Around the World in 180 Days

Around the World in 180 Days

On September 15, 2019, we boarded a plane to Dublin, embarking on a (hopefully) round-the-world journey of unknown length and uncertain destinations. Six months, sixteen countries and twenty-six flights later, we arrived back to a cold and locked-down life in Connecticut. In between, the world was beautiful! We had been planning and praying for this trip for years, and it came at a perfect time: with our kids old enough to carry their own luggage, but young enough to get child discounts on tickets and accommodations; and with a world still open and unmasked.  Our intention was to world school, and we discovered much of our curriculum along the way. We explored medieval Irish castles and massive Vietnamese caves; we met old friends in new places and found new friends along the way; and we had the privilege to work alongside amazing people and organizations whose lives and missions are to lift and serve others. The images below represent just a few of the many many moments that we hold with wonder and gratitude. For our boys, we hope that these experiences leave imprints in their hearts that inform their future paths. And for us, we hope that, in sharing a bit of our story, you may see the light of the author of our lives.“For in His light, we see light.” Time marches on, life and landscapes change, memories fade, but by Gods grace and love, moments are not lost.

Wow — BLOWN AWAY! I cannot stop watching and reveling in the experience your family had in those months leading up to the global lockdown. Ian, your photography and videography is some of the best I’ve ever seen. Keep up the great work.

Thanks Martha!! Rich Mullins once sang, “there’s so much beauty around us for just two eyes to see.” We were indeed immersed in beauty during our adventure. Hope you and the family are well! And hopefully we can row together in person someday soon 🙂
